Delta Vista Optometry is seeking an Optometrist who is passionate about providing personalized and individualized care to ensure excellent eye health and vision care for all patients. You’ll provide general optometric care three to four days a week, including Saturdays. It is anticipated that more days may be added in the future to accommodate practice growth. Comprehensive patient exams are performed every half hour, with additional built-in-time mid-day and end of the day to complete patient charting. A candidate with further education, experience, certifications, or looking to explore special interests to expand the patient base would complement the practice. There is potential for practice ownership or partnership in the future.

We are seeking an Optometrist to provide low vision exams in a multidisciplinary setting. This is a long-term
contract position of up to four days per month, three patients per day.

and billing requirements
• Has the patience to meet the challenges of working with individuals experiencing sight loss
• Has compassion and empathy for what the patient and family is going through as well as the knowledge,
resources, and experience to help them adjust to their difficult situation
• Maintains current California licensure as an Optometrist
• Provides their own malpractice insurance

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The University of California, Berkeley, School of Optometry invites applications for a pool of qualified optician instructor/s in the school’s eyewear dispensary should an opening arise. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the department. The optician instructor/s will be working directly with patients as well as teaching Doctor of Optometry candidates/students in ophthalmic dispensary skills. The pool will remain in place for one calendar year; those interested in remaining in the pool beyond that time must reapply.

The applicant we seek will be highly proficient and experienced in all aspects of optical dispensary operations and capable of providing effective guidance and instruction to our students in the context of a high volume optical department . The successful candidate will supervise optometry student clinicians in our clinic, prepare and deliver seminars on a variety of relevant optical related topics in concert with other optician instructors, and have primary responsibility for teaching and evaluating those students.

QUALIFICATIONS
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
American Board of Opticianry Certified (ABOC) optician (or equivalent national or international certification or degree).

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
Three years of optical experience in a dispensing and/or laboratory environment. Experience working with ophthalmic frames, lens materials, and lens designs and technologies. Employment is contingent on successful completion of a Background Check. To be eligible to work, clinic employees must comply with all UC Berkeley Optometry Clinic annual immunization and medical screening requirements, trainings , and University and School policies.

Preferred qualifications
Experience in training optical professionals strongly preferred. Opticianry Advanced Certification (ABOC-AC) , American Board of Optician Masters (ABOM), undergraduate degree, or laboratory experience. Ability to provide and demonstrate the highest caliber of patient service and create appropriate visual solutions to meet each patient’s specific visual needs. Candidates with teaching and technical training of opticianry experience. Looking for candidates interested in the cutting edge of ophthalmic technology.

The responsibilities of the health science clinical faculty members include teaching optometric student clinicians in the patient care environment, performing direct patient care when student clinicians are unavailable both on or off the UC Berkeley campus, and/or teaching optometric student clinicians the basics of eye examinations sequence in the pre-clinical environment. They may also perform service to the school and community through education or various outreach programs on or off the UC Berkeley campus.

Appointees will be eligible for advancement through the ranks of the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series, based on performance in teaching, professional activity, scholarly and creative activity, and service.

The School of Optometry has excellent clinical facilities and a large, diverse patient population. Over 70,000 patient visits are seen annually within our on campus clinic. About 65 optometry students are graduated annually. We seek candidates whose experience, teaching, or community service has prepared them to contribute to diversity and excellence. About the Optometrist position:
Our new Optometrist will be a welcome addition to our team, who is both personable and caring, and fits into our culture of serious fun and lifelong learning. We currently have three full-time and three part-time optometrists and a team of six therapists and eight patient-
care coordinators/pre-testers/opticians. We also host 2-3 interns total from SUNY or SCCO. This position opens in Mid November 2021 and can be Part-time (2 days) or Full-time (4 days) depending on your needs or availability.
You will also be appointed as adjunct clinical professor and can help to teach our interns.

As a California licensed Optometrist in our practice, you are not limited to, but will be expected to:
• Perform comprehensive eye exams for patients of all ages
• Evaluate, Diagnose, and Refer or Treat Ocular Disease
• Fit and Prescribe Contact Lenses: single vision, multifocal, and toric soft and RGP lenses
• Perform Binocular Vision Evaluations, Diagnosis and Treat BV Disorders (will provide training as needed)
  • Prescribe near point lenses
  • Prescribe prism and other therapeutic lenses (ie.Neurolens)
  • Prescribe vision therapy or vision rehabilitation
