The responsibilities of the Health Science Clinical Faculty include teaching optometry students in a patient care environment in our Sjogren’s Syndrome Clinic (https://cal-eye-care.org/services/sjoegren-s-syndrome). The Sjogren’s Syndrome Clinic offers specialty services to manage the ocular, oral, and systemic manifestations of Sjogren’s syndrome. The clinic joins numerous specialty clinics at the University Eye Center, which is located on the UC Berkeley campus. Appointees are also expected to engage in professional activities in their clinical field; in University and public service; and in scholarly or creative activities that derive from and support their primary clinical teaching and professional responsibilities.
Basic qualifications: At the time of application, the applicant should have an OD degree from an Accreditation Council on Optometric Education accredited institution, MD, DDS, or equivalent international degree.
Additional qualifications: By the start date of the job, the applicant should have a minimum four years of clinical experience.
Preferred qualifications: The successful candidate for an Associate or Full Clinical Professor position will preferably hold or have held an Associate or Full Clinical Professor (or equivalent) faculty position at another institution. Serious consideration will be given to the candidate’s record in clinical teaching at the graduate level, evidence of distinguished clinical and professional expertise, and the candidate’s contributions to scholarly, creative, or administrative activities. Serious consideration will also be given to the candidate’s university and public service.
Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with the qualifications of the appointee.
