Burglary Alert: Santa Clara, CA

8/11/2016

Comments

Dear Doctors,

Please be on alert. There was a break-in at Silicon Valley Eyecare on August 7th.

We had a break in this morning.  This is a different method than previous burglaries which were break the window type entries. He took plano sunglasses of all brands including Oakley.  The locksmith said the lock was wrenched out of the housing without much damage to anything.  We had a metal ring around the lock to protect the lock but it did not make a difference.  Fully masked so no ID.  Please let the Society know.

Comments

Our office in Portola Valley (near Stanford University) was broken
into early Tuesday morning 7/19/16. The front window was fully
smashed, and all of our Oakley and Maui Jim sunglasses were taken.
There were no other damages, or loss.

The video quality is very poor, the person appears thin built, around
5'6", wearing dark cloths, and a hoodie. No facial capture in the
video.

Fremont Optometric Group

Mid-day on 12/18 a couple came into our office expressing interest in looking at the frames we carry.  They were only in our dispensary for about 15 mins but managed to steal about 10 frames off our boards.  The male is the same individual that stole from another optometric office in San Jose earlier this year.  Please show these photos to your doctors and staff.  You can also view a 1 min video of them in action at https://youtu.be/z9TxVOGR1_

Sunnyvale Burglary

7/3/2015

Comments

From an OD in Sunnyvale in the last week of June 2015.

We had 5 designer frames missing after this person. He is an African American male, dark skin tone, about 6 ft tall, he was wearing a t-shirt with a big "X" on the back and light colored jeans and black sunglasses.

From talking to other staff, it might had been a second visit by the same shoplifter.  He was telling similar things and had similar pattern on both visits.

The person didn't park in front of the office  even though we had spaces. He came saying that he came to buy sunglasses for his wife.  On first visit, he said it was for his girl friend who worked in the same plaza.  He asked if we can fix a broken Rayban sunglasses.  He asked for quotes on photochromic and polarization on plano lenses.  He showed a roll cash saying that he had money to buy.

San Jose Burglary

10/18/2013

Comments

These two people came into the Crest Optometry office in San Jose on Friday 10/18/13 at about 11:30 a.m. The woman immediately went to the window and asked questions about exam fees. The man was looking at glasses, rearranging the sunglasses to set up the shoplift. After being in the office for 10 minutes they left. The office staff said they should have been more cautious, especially for walk-in people since it is primarily an appointment only private practice. The staff reported the incident to the police immediately.

Later that day, the same pair entered Mountain View Optometry but reportedly did not take anything. The Optical Manager noted that it appeared that they were driving a Prius or similar type vehicle. If you see these two in your office you should notify police immediately. For additional information, please contact Phuong Pham, O.D. at (408) 372-7647.
