4 more ODs are needed for a Medical Mission Trip to Jamaica. Enjoy the sun and warm weather while you serve alongside and guide optometry students from UC Berkeley and SCCO. The trip already has more than 20 Optometry students who want to go, and so we need ODs to guide them. We do vision, simple refraction, eye pressure, and small pupil direct ophthalmoscopy on everyone. We dilate many patients, and treat glaucoma too! This service trip happens annually through AOJAH (https://aojah.org) and encompasses primary care, cataract surgery, health education, pharmacy, and optometry. The teams go to rural mountain communities in Jamaica that have no access to health care. This trip is June 8-15, 2024, and lodging will be at the Bahia Principe Resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Also, if you know an ophthalmologist that may be interested in doing cataract surgery for this trip, also please let Max Cheng know (contact info below) and he can put you in contact with the trip organizers to get more details! If you have any questions, Daphne Chan (SFOS Secretary), has gone on this trip previously and will be going again.
